Lemon Law

State laws that require manufacturers to refund or replace vehicles with repeated unfixable defects.

Lemon-law qualification varies by state but generally requires the same defect to remain unrepaired after 3-4 dealer service attempts, or the car to be out of service for 30+ cumulative days. Most state lemon laws cover new cars; some include used and leased vehicles.
