CarSavr Rate Alerts · Issue #47
Tuesday, May 21, 2026
Three rate moves worth $400+ this week
1. Refinance APRs dropped 28 bps for 700+ FICO borrowers. Capital One Auto Refinance, LightStream, and PenFed all cut posted rates this week. If your current loan is above 8% APR and you're at 700+ FICO, this is the best window since Q1 2025 — typical $22k residual loan saves $48/mo at the new rates.
2. State Farm filed an 8.4% Texas premium hike. Effective for renewals after July 1. State Farm-insured Texas drivers who haven't re-shopped in 18+ months are looking at typical $312/yr increases. Compare GEICO + Progressive + Allstate before your renewal date.
3. Olive extended its 50%-off first-month promo. Now valid through June 15. If you've been considering a third-party warranty, Olive's premium is roughly 15% below CarShield + Endurance for the same coverage tier — better claim-approval history too.
